Virtual permit system starting April 2026 for employees and June 15, 2026 for students

All parking prices are subject to change via Board policy. Student and Staff parking are provided at College of Alameda (CoA), Laney College, and Merritt College campuses. College staff are provided a staff permit, which allows parking in designated staff areas. Students wishing to park in student parking lots must have a valid parking permit. A student may purchase a semester permit, good for the entire semester, or may purchase a daily permit, good only for the date of purchase.

You may purchase your parking permits online. Permits are required to park on District property, or you will be cited.

Daily $2 Permits

A daily student permit is good in any student lot, on CoA, Laney, and Merritt campuses for the date the permit was issued. Daily student permits are $2 per calendar day, and may be purchased as follows: As an alternative to purchasing a semester parking permit, you may pay a $2(subject to change) daily parking fee through http://peralta.thepermitstore.com. If you do not have online access, you can visit a college business office for assistance with obtaining a permit. We highly recommend purchasing a semester permit. It will save you time and money.

Starting June 2026, daily permits may be purchased online by going to peralta.thepermitstore.com. If you are a currently enrolled student, you will be able to log in with your Peralta Portal credentials to access your account. If you are not currently enrolled, you will need to create an account first, and can then purchase your daily parking permit. Permits can be purchased in advance, but refunds are not available for daily parking permit purchases.

Student Semester Permits

Student semester parking permits are now virtual and associated with your vehicle license plate. If you drive different vehicles to campus, please ensure that you have the correct vehicle active on your account when you arrive on campus. Possession of a parking permit does NOT guarantee you a parking space. If the lot is full, you must try another student parking lot. Before purchasing a daily permit, always find a legal parking place first.

Disabled Persons Vehicle

Vehicles displaying the proper Disabled Person Placards or license plates may park in any student or staff space without the need for a student permit. The colleges have several Disabled Person Parking Areas, which are marked with the traditional blue sign and symbol. Disabled persons are encouraged to use those areas. Use caution when parking, and do not park in any areas blocked out next to the disabled parking or any area marked “No Parking.”

Semester Student Permits may be purchased as follows:

Beginning in June 2026, the semester parking permit may be purchased online at peralta.thepermitstore.com for $35 (subject to change) or at the Business Office at one of the campuses. Proof of enrollment and valid identification required (only one permit per person). Summer session permits are $17.50 (subject to change).

Staff Permits

Staff Permits are issued to regularly employed staff and must be replaced every other October. Starting March 2026, staff parking permits are now virtual and associated with your vehicle license plate.  Permits are ordered through your employee Peralta Portal. If you encounter an issue with your account, please contact Community Safety at (510) 466-7236 for assistance. Student hourly employees are not eligible for staff permits.

Free Parking

A designated portion of the Laney Parking Lot near Hwy 880 and the Estuary is designated as free parking for students. CoA Parking Lot A, near 5th Street and the Tennis Courts, is designated as free parking. Merritt Parking Lot C has designated free parking in the last row of parking spaces closest to Campus Drive. Students may park in the identified free spaces without a parking permit.

Motorcycles

Motorcycles displaying proper license plate registration do not need a parking permit, provided they park ONLY in motorcycle parking areas. These areas are clearly marked and posted. A motorcycle found outside of a marked space will be cited.

Visitor Parking for Official Business

If you are an official visitor to the District with an appointment, you may be eligible for a temporary one-day parking permit. Contact the person you are meeting with, or their department's administrative assistant, to see if you are eligible for this permit. You will be given the permit, which must be displayed on your vehicle during your meeting.
