Why We Need Your Support
The Peralta Colleges are known for outstanding staff, students and alumni, and the Foundation’s commitment is to keep this quality consistent while also keeping enrollment up and class fees low. State and local appropriations cover just the most basic costs of instruction, with little or no funds available to assist students with books, supplies, equipment, lab fees and other kinds of expenses. Approximately 70% of students receive some form of financial aid; many manage personal and family responsibilities while advancing their educational, professional and vocational goals.
That’s why our students--many of whom are first-generation college students--need the assistance of a scholarship. While some 50 percent of our students receive some type of financial assistance, at the present time the Foundation can only assist a few dozen. We can increase our support with your help. Consider creating a named scholarship of your own. It only takes a tax-deductible gift of $2,500. If you want to learn how you can establish a scholarship or give to an existing scholarship fund, please contact the foundation at pfs@peralta.edu

In addition to student scholarships, the Peralta Colleges Foundation raises funds to provide grants that support students in class-related projects and selected extracurricular activities that build leadership skills. These grants also assist faculty in developing new courses, improving existing courses, or with purchasing equipment essential to a quality course. Both students and faculty apply for these grants through the Foundation’s established process.
