Supporting ATB Students

Counselors, financial aid staff, and enrollment specialists — here's what you need to know to correctly identify, advise, and support students coming through the ATB pathway.

Identifying ATB-Eligible Students

A student is potentially ATB-eligible if they: have no high school diploma or GED, are 18 or older, are a US citizen or eligible non-citizen, and are enrolled (or willing to enroll) at a partner adult school while attending college.

Required Documentation

Students need a completed Student Education Plan (SEP), a signed Adult School Dual Enrollment Form, and proof of enrollment at a partner adult school. Financial aid will need a FAFSA on file.

Approved Career Pathway (ECPP)

Students must be enrolled in an Eligible Career Pathway Program approved under the ATB plan. Counselors should confirm that the student's chosen program qualifies. Contact your college's ATB coordinator if unsure.

Financial Aid Processing

ATB students can receive Title IV financial aid. Ensure FAFSA is submitted, the student understands SAP requirements, and direct deposit is set up. Visit peralta.edu/financial-aid/faq for full guidance.

Adult School Coordination

The dual enrollment form must be reviewed and co-signed by the adult school counselor. Maintain communication with adult school partners to verify continued enrollment and progress toward a diploma.

Adult School Coordination

ATB students must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress to keep their financial aid. Monitor their progress each semester and flag early warning signs. Connect struggling students with tutoring and basic needs services promptly.

Orientation Requirement

All ATB students must attend college orientation before enrollment is finalized. Ensure they are aware of basic needs services, tutoring, and academic support on campus.

Adult School Partner Contacts

Build relationships with counselors at each partner adult school. They are the first point of contact for students and can help verify ATB eligibility and co-sign the dual enrollment form.

KEY FORM

Adult School Special Enrollment / Dual Enrollment Form

This form must be completed by the student, reviewed with both the college counselor and the adult school counselor, and kept on file for financial aid verification.
