ADULT SCHOOL PARTNER RESOURCES

Your Role in ATB

Adult school counselors and staff are a critical link in the ATB pathway. Students often learn about this opportunity through you first — here's how to support them effectively.

Identifying Candidates

Look for students who are 18+, working on their HiSET/GED/diploma, express interest in college, and are US citizens or eligible non-citizens. These students may qualify for ATB even if they don't know the program exists.

Explaining ATB to Students

Tell students: "You can take college classes and finish your diploma at the same time — for free. You may also qualify for financial aid to help with living expenses." Use simple language and be encouraging.

The Dual Enrollment Form

Once a student completes their SEP with a college counselor, they bring it back to you. Review it together, confirm they are enrolled at your school, and co-sign the Adult School Special Enrollment Form.

Maintaining Dual Enrollment Records

Keep documentation that the student is actively enrolled and making progress toward their diploma. The college's financial aid office may request verification. Regular communication with the college counselor is key.

Check-In Each Semester

ATB students should re-verify their adult school enrollment each semester. Check in with your students who are dual-enrolled to confirm they are still attending and progressing at the adult school.

Your College Contacts

Build a direct relationship with the counseling and financial aid offices at each Peralta College. Knowing your counterpart at the college speeds up the process for shared students.

This form is required for all ATB students. It must be completed by the student and co-signed by both a college counselor and an adult school counselor.
