A Message from the VP of Instruction

I would like to extend a welcome to you on behalf of the instructional faculty and staff at the College of Alameda (COA).

The Office of Instruction is responsible for instructional programs and services that support the college's theme of "anytime and anywhere".  We provide traditional courses offerings in the fall, spring and summer; as well as non-traditional courses with our Weekend College, which focuses on lower division transfer courses; the Winter and Spring Intersession (compressed courses) and our distance education/online courses.  Together, these programs support our "anytime and anywhere" philosophy and are designed to provide choices for students. Our newest offering is our Sunrise College with courses starting at 6:00 am!

The College of Alameda’s faculty and staff are committed to providing a "Culture of Caring" that enhances student success and embodies the college's mission to serve the educational needs of our diverse community by providing comprehensive and flexible programs and resources that empower students to achieve their goals.

This is accomplished by comprehensive course offerings in:

  • General Education
  • Transfer Education
  • Career & Technical/Occupational
  • Basic Skills/English as a Second Language (ESL); and
  • Cooperative Work Experience

We take pride in our campus and welcome you into the community.  Should you have any questions about our instructional programs and services please do not hesitate to contact us.

Jannett Jackson, Ph.D.
Vice President of Instruction
